Society and Tim Tebow

As one of the most talked about NFL players this year, Tim Tebow is one of the NFL players that is most looked up to by young athletes. Tebow has been getting battered by the media in ways that are both positive and negative in the general public's eyes. When reading another post about Tim Tebow at "thebloghouse.com" i learned how Tim can positively affect all of those who watch him.

Most people when looking at Tim Tebow will see just another money hungry NFL player that will do anything for money and the spotlight and it seems that he has been getting the spotlight as of recently. Tim doesn't ask for the spotlight, it is given to him because people see that if you take away his NFL suit then he is just a passionate football player that will do anything for his time and puts his faith before anything else. That is why, in my mind, Tim Tebow is a great role model for today's youth athletic players.

In a world where children no longer feel the need to work for the things that they want, and just expect the success without the time and effort, a role model is needed. If more kids can look to Tim Tebow and see that all the attributes he has and strive to be more like him, then today's youth would be in a much better position. When I have children, Tim Tebow is someone that I would want them to have as their role model. In all, even with some of the negative press that Tim Tebow receives, when stripped down to who he truly is, he is a man that everyone in society should look up to and strive to be more like.

  1. I agree Tim Tebow receives so much negative connotations. He is a man that is truly passionate about his faith and football. He isn’t somebody that does some weird things such as Lady Gaga or P. Diddy. Wearing weird outfits, creating a line of clothes or what have you. Tim Tebow is a person that does what he does because he believes in it and is not doing it for money. I feel that people are putting negative reps on him are just angry that a religious man can be so successful and truly has the desire to play ball. So many people in today’s society want fame and think that fame is either handed to you or you earn it. When Tim Tebow says that he has a God given talent and would be no were without him, people tend to get upset. I agree that he is a role model that today’s youth should look up to.

  2. Whether negative or positive, Tim Tebow does indeed receive a lot of attention from the media and the press. Any more, people try to keep religion out of schools, athletics, and really any public event. The fact that Tim Tebow is open with his intense belief in faith only angers some people and his success with football only adds to that. He seems to be a down to earth guy that truly loves football and his faith. I agree that Tebow is a good role model for young athletes. Whether you are a religious person or not, you can agree that you don’t see Tim Tebow on the news for getting into trouble with drugs or alcohol. That is the kind of athlete kids should look up to, one that stays out of trouble and keeps his head on straight. He plays football for the love of the game and not the money or attention he receives. As Beau said Tebow said he has a God given talent and uses it to glorify God and not himself.

  3. Lots of people are saying Tebow is doing it for the money and attention like other topnotch famous players; obviously being an outstanding football player in the NFL will literally pay off, and people talking about you in negative and positive ways is inevitable. But people are saying he's using his religion for attention, causing great controversy; sportscasters and other people poke at him trying to find a small flaw and use it against him. I believe Tebow's strong belief is his way of life, and people don't like that fact that he shows it publicly, making viewers feel awkward. We need to appreciate his way of acting on the field, we see football players fight, curse, flip the bird, and think its funny and worth watching again. Tebow kneels, points to the sky, or expresses his joy, and people flip out about that? Lets think this through people.
